Coming to the realization

Over the past week, I have been realizing that my life is not where I want it to be. I mean really not where I want it to be.
I have been looking at some old material ( books, tapes, and podcasts) to see if there is something that I can use to jump start a turn around. One thing that has caught my eye was the beginning of the "Rogue Warrior by Richard Marcinko." The first thing he asks in chapter #1, planning to succeed, is "What's your goal for today?" He says that if you don't have a quick answer for that, to take the book and beat yourself over the head with it. Who knows though you may get a little success via the Christopher Columbus School of Planning.

  • you won't know where you are going.
  • you won't know where you are when you get there.
  • and you won't know where you've been when you get back!

Keep in mind, CHRIS DIED BROKE!!

Just with this one excerpt I realized that my plan for weight loss has been, Go to the gym...Period!

Not setting any goals for when I get there or planning what to do when I get there. I know that I need to change my diet, but I left that to chance too. If you don't track what you are eating, then how can you know how much to eat? No plan for that either. No goals to achieve. I have realized that the close your eyes method of weight loss has not worked out very well. I think I would be the valedictorian of the Columbus School.

I am finding this true in my day to day job too. If I don't have a set objective of what I want to do, or set some higher goals, then I do nothing. I will start with the gym and my job and work my way from there.
